Frequently Asked Questions

  • Yes. We’re always glad to share our certification details, who certifies us, and what the standards mean in real life on the farm. Organic certification matters to us because it creates accountability, but it is not the whole story. Day to day, we’re focused on healthy soil, biodiversity, and growing fruit we’re proud to feed our own families. If you need documentation for your business (like a current certificate or lot information), just let us know what you’re looking for.

  • To us, organic means working with biology instead of trying to overpower nature. It means focusing on prevention, paying attention, and making careful choices that protect soil and water and support pollinators and beneficial insects. It also means transparency. If you’re curious about a practice, please ask. We’d rather have a real conversation than hide behind a label.

  • Sometimes, yes. Like every orchard in Michigan, we deal with real disease and insect pressure, and there are times when an approved organic spray is the right tool. Our goal is always to use the lightest effective option and keep reducing sprays over time by investing in prevention: strong soil biology, good pruning and airflow, careful scouting, and weather-based decision making. If you ever want to know what we use and why, we’re happy to talk it through.

  • Regenerative is our direction of travel. It means building a healthy, living system that gets better over time, not just meeting a minimum standard. In an orchard, that shows up in how we care for soil structure and organic matter, how we support habitat and biodiversity, and how we make practical decisions that reduce long-term inputs. We blend science with hands-on experience, and we’re always learning season to season.

  • For u-pick, our season is typically mid August through October. Over time, we hope to create season extension options as we’re able to make those investments. For the most detailed harvest timing, please see our variety page for the full schedule of when each variety is available.

  • Yes. We do bulk orders for families, cider makers, retailers, and other buyers, depending on the season and the crop. The easiest way to get a clear answer is to reach out with the variety (or use case), the quantity range, your preferred pickup or delivery window, and whether you need fresh eating quality or processing fruit. We’ll confirm what’s available and keep the plan straightforward.

  • For the longest shelf life, keep apples cold and slightly humid, like in a refrigerator or a cool basement. A breathable bag or container works well, and it helps to keep apples away from strong-smelling foods. For the best flavor, bring them up to room temperature before eating.

  • Seasonally, yes. We love sharing what we’re learning, especially when it helps strengthen local food and farming. If you’re interested in bringing a group, reach out with your goal, group size, and a date range, and we’ll let you know what’s feasible. For safety and farm workflow, visits are by appointment unless we’ve announced a public event.

  • The best first step is to email [name/email]. If you can, include your business name and location, what you’re looking for (fresh or processing, and pack style), your estimated volume and timing, and any food safety or documentation requirements. We’ll reply with next steps and what we can realistically support this season.
